Followed by a teaser campaign of Zenfone from the company on Youtube, Asus has announced today a range of budget smartphones with multiple screen size at CES 2014. These phones come in three different variants with a display size of 4, 5 and 6-inch and the price starts from $99 and goes up to $199. All these devices in Zenfone series run on Intel Atom processor at different clocks.
Zenfone 4 flaunts a 4-inch WVGA TFT display. As above stated, it runs on Intel’s Atom Z2520 processor clocked at 1.2GHz coupled with 1GB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage. The storage can be further extended via a microSD card slot. Zenfone 4 sports a 5-megapixel camera in the rear and a 1,170mAh battery. Connectivity wise the device comes with dual micro- SIM card slots, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi Direct support and Bluetooth 4.0. The Zenfone 4 is priced at $99.
The Zenfone 5 features a powerful Intel’s Atom Z2580 clocked at 2GHz processor paired with 1GB RAM and 4GB onboard memory. With the launch of Zenfone 5, Asus is introducing a PixelMaster camera feature that registers up to 400 percent brighter photos and videos in low-light conditions by reducing its resolution.
As the name suggests, the device has a 5-inch display with 720p resolution. It has an 8.0-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel front facing camera. The smartphone has a 2,050mAh battery and will cost $149.
Zenfone 6 runs similar to Zenfone 5, an Intel Atom Z2580 processor clocked at 2GHz. It will come in two different variants of 8GB and 16GB with 1GB/2GB of RAM. The Zenfone sports a 13-megapixel f/2.0 PixelMaster rear camera and a 2.0-megapixel front camera, and a 3,230mAh battery.
All these Zenfone series smartphones run on Android 4.3 with Asus’s own ZenUI skin that will be updated to KitKat OS.
Apart from these Zenfone series, Asus also has launched two new devices Padfone Mini and Padfone X in its unique Padfone series.
The Padfone Mini brings the same concept of smartphone-turns-into-tablet in smaller form-factor. Now it is more portable as the 4-inch smartphone that converts into a 7-inch tablet. It runs on Intel Atom Z2560 1.6 GHz processor paired with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. Similar to Zenfone 5, it also features the same 8-megapixel PixelMaster camera and 2-megapixel front facing camera. The phone has a 1,170mAh battery while the tablet dock has an additional 2,100mAh battery. It is priced at $249.
At last we have the PadFone X, the greatest of them all in the range. It features a 5-inch full HD display on the phone and a 9-inch full HD display on the tablet. The device runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 800 chipset. The tablet also has dual speakers in front.
