How to Easily Resize the Text Font in WordPress

It is true that WordPress’s visual editor has limited features especially when you try to edit or change the font size for site’s posts and pages.

You can change the heading for pages and posts while these are controlled by your theme stylesheet file (style.css). If you really want to resize the text font or do better text formatting in WordPress, then follow these methods.

Method 1: Using the Paragraph Headings

As above mentioned, you can use different heading sizes while writing the post content. In the visual editor mode, you can see all the available items under the tab called “Paragraph” as shown in the screenshot below:

These sizes are controlled by your theme’s stylesheet file (style.css) to make sure that the font size is coherent with everything. In most cases, one of the heading sizes should get the job done. This is good for user experience at the same time it also makes your WordPress posts SEO friendly.

Method 2: TinyMCE Advanced Plugin

There is another way to resize the font in WordPress using a plugin called TinyMCE Advanced. This plugin provides you with a better control of overall font-sizes and text formatting while writing your website’s content.

All you need to do is to install and activate the TinyMCE advanced plugin from WordPress plugin directory. Once you have activated, simply visit the Settings » TinyMCE Advanced section to configure the editor settings. On this page, you will see the TinyMCE Editor toolbar with buttons as well as the unused buttons below.

Now all you have to do is drag and drop the font size button from the unused buttons to any row in the toolbar and then click on Save Changes button.

To know if it works for you, create a new post or edit an existing one. Now, you can see the default WordPress visual editor is replaced by the TinyMCE Advanced editor that has the font-size button.

This features provides you more freedom over things because now you can actually have font-size even smaller than the normal body font i.e 8pt or 10pt. However, the biggest downside of this method is if you ever change themes, you have to account for all the font size changes you made in individual posts.

Method 3: Resize Paragraphs Font Using CSS

If you want to change the font size for paragraphs of your theme manually, then you need to add the following custom CSS to your WordPress theme.

p {

font-size:16px;

}

The above code will change the font size of paragraphs in your WordPress theme.

Note: You should always remember that the above setting will be lost if you switch to another theme.
