World’s largest angel investor group, Indian Angel Network has today commenced its operation in Israel. The decision is centred on Israel’s status as the popular “Startup hub” in the world, and its ecosystem is seen as toe-to-toe with other leading ecosystems like those in the US, UK, Singapore and India as well.
Padmaja Ruparel, Co-founder & President of IAN said, “IAN now has operations in 3 of the 4 top startup hubs in the world – India, UK and Israel and seeks to connect the most innovative companies in the world to the largest / fastest growing markets and the most savvy investors globally. Our launch in Israel supports the vision of Hon PM Modi who is the champion of Startup India and seeks to build a closer relationship between the two countries.”
IAN has operations across multiple cities and a mix of over 450 institutional and individual members, comprising the who’s who of successful entrepreneurs, spread around the globe.
In February 2014, IAN launched their London office at a ceremony in Downing St, attended by British Prime Minster, David Cameron, and several other British Ministers, as well as over fifty members of the IAN network. This made IAN the world’s first angel group to establish operations outside of its home country.
To operate in Israel, Indian Angel Network has also partnered with Anat Bernstein-Reich, a quintessential entrepreneur & Chairperson of Israel-India Chamber of Commerce as well as President of the Israel-India Friendship Association (IIFA). The angel group will invest in areas like healthcare, agritech, cyber security and cleantech.
