The program has received 900 applicants from across 87 countries this year. The competition recognizes FbStart mobile app startups that demonstrate exceptional growth and the potential for continued success, deliver great consumer experiences and design, and leverage Facebook developer products to drive engagement. An esteemed panel of mobile development experts, investors, startup founders, and Facebook judged the entries.

John Paul, CEO, Maya said, “It’s exciting times at Maya! We are honoured and excited about winning this among entries from all over the world. The award recognises the effort Maya puts into understanding a relatively unspoken area of women’s health. We thank Facebook for this recognition and being a valuable partner in Maya’s journey. We resolve to work harder on our mission, to make a difference in the life of women, by helping them track their health better.”

Founded in early 2014, Maya enables women to keep track of their health including their periods, monitor related symptoms, set health reminders, monitor pregnancy and connect with health experts via a mobile application.

Maya so far received 7 million downloads across 190 countries worldwide. The app logs more than 1 million active users every month and the top geographies are India, Brazil, Italy, Mexico, South Korea and Russia. The mobile app supports 14 international languages and has garnered a 4.6 Star rating from more than 150,000 user ratings.
