Gurgaon based mobile wallet firm MobiKwik has partnered with Samsung Pay, under which consumers will be able to make payments with a single tap using selected Samsung handsets.
As per the company statement, MobiKwik wallet is now integrated with Samsung Pay Mini to enable one-tap payments at more than 1.4 million MobiKwik powered merchants pan-India. Alternatively, users just need to do one swipe and a click to scan and pay immediately at these merchants, improving convenience for them. Also, MobiKwik will be available soon to Samsung Pay users.
Launched in March this year Samsung Pay is the feature given by Samsung, in flagship phones- like Samsung S8, Samsung S7 Edge, S7, J7 Max and J7 Pro among others. It is designed to cater to the unique requirements of Indian mid-segment consumers, provides a comprehensive platform for e-wallets and in making bank-to-bank transfers.
Commenting on the development, Sanjay Razdan, Director, Samsung Pay Business, Samsung India said, “We are enthused by the tremendous response Samsung Pay has received since its launch, both from our consumers as well as partners. Moving into the next phase of new and innovative services for Samsung Pay, we are delighted to have MobiKwik on board as a partner. As India’s biggest, most-trusted brand of mobile phones, Samsung remains committed to a digitally-empowered economy and will continue to create meaningful innovations that will transform lives.”
Samsung has also launched a Mini version of the platform- Samsung Pay Mini that integrates UPI and mobile wallets to work on its mid-range priced smartphones. It, however, does not support tap-and-pay using credit and debit cards like the main app.
“The future of digital payments in India will thrive only by collaborating with various ecosystem partners to drive acceptance. It is wonderful to walk hand in hand with Samsung in achieving the Digital India mission,” said, Daman Soni, Head of Growth at MobiKwik.
