Americans are expected to buy  16.8 million cars in total in 2020, NADA reveals. In-car technology is developing at a rapid rate and working to make cars safer, as well as more entertaining and convenient for drivers and passengers alike. New features like wireless Apple CarPlay, relaxation systems, and keyless entry are set to transform cars this year.

Wireless Apple CarPlay

When Apple first released their CarPlay service, it required driver’s to connect their smartphones to the car with a USB cable. But the release of Wireless CarPlay is set to change that. As long as cars have a Wi-Fi connection, they’ll be able to take advantage of Apple CarPlay’s wireless functionality and use their smartphones safely while driving. If you’re interested in enjoying the benefits of a wireless connection, it’s important to research the various car makes offering this feature. Currently, it’s available in certain BMW, GM and Ford cars. Consumers should expect it to become more widely available in the future.

Relaxation systems

New cars are being designed with a focus on relaxation. For example, the new Hyundai Sonata comes outfitted with an innovative Nature Sounds program. The navigation system offers options, including, “open-air cafe,” “snowy village,” “lively forest,” and “calm sea waves” to help drivers and passengers unwind on the road. Similarly, the latest BMW Operating System 7.0 offers a Caring Car feature that adjusts the temperature, opens or closes windows, and changes the music depending on selections made by the driver.

Keyless entry

A number of cars currently offer keyless entry — also known as smart key systems — to boost convenience for the driver. Whenever the driver is in close proximity to the car, the door will unlock as soon as the driver touches the door handle. For example, newer Mercedes-Benz models offer the Keyless Go feature, which allows you to lock and unlock, and start and stop the car even if you’re outside it. When the car senses the smartkey in your bag or pocket, you can control these features easily with less hassle. Additionally, Keyless Start allows drivers to start the car simply by pressing the start/stop button — no key required.

Car tech has come a long way in recent years. With these exciting innovations, car owners can look forward to an all-round more enjoyable driving experience.
