Cab Aggregator company, Uber has started a pilot of UberPASS, a new subscription service in four cities including Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, and Kolkata. Initially, it will be available free to a small group of users, providing access to highly rated drivers, discounted fares, waiver on cancellation charges and other premium features similar to Ola Select.
As above mentioned, a few selected users in Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, and Chennai will get a first-hand chance to use the service. According to an official statement, the company aims to offer cab riders “a consistent and comfortable mobility experience” through the feature.
Commenting on the pilot run, Shailesh Sawlani, General Manager, West, Uber India said, “We are always thinking of new ways to enhance the Uber experience for our riders. UberPASS is one such product designed to offer riders using our service for their daily commute, a seamless and consistent ride experience. We are excited to launch UberPASS as a pilot for riders in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, and Kolkata and if our riders give us a thumbs up, we will take this to riders in other cities as well.”
Ola’s Share pass subscription just starts with Rs 99, which is applicable across most of its segments. However, the price of this UberPASS subscription is not yet revealed by Uber. Also, the new feature is not visible to the consumer in Mumbai and Delhi yet, so it seems the UberPASS support will be rolled out via an app update.
Uber most recently revamped its rider’s app, which is available to everyone in India. The app has been redesigned to show clearer vehicle options along with upfront pricing. Smarter pickups have been introduced as well, which reduces ETA and there are new in-app shortcuts.
