The Chinese smartphone manufacturer, Oppo has launched Oppo A83, a mid-range smartphone in India. The smartphone comes with bezel-less display, AI beauty recognition and face unlock features. Since the device uses facial recognition to unlock and therefore there is no fingerprint sensor.
Similar to the other oppo device, Oppo A83 sports a metal unibody design and it will be available in Champagne Gold and Black colour options.
In terms of specification, the Oppo A83 sports a 5.7-inch display with a resolution of 720×1440 pixels and an aspect ratio of 18:9. The smartphone is powered by an octa-core MediaTek 6763T chipset that is expected to deliver a strong 2.5GHz clocking speed. It has 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage which is further expandable up to 256GB. The handset draws from a 3180mAh battery.
In terms of optics, Oppo A83 has a 13MP rear camera along with LED flash and an 8MP selfie camera at the front. The AI-based beauty software is there to enhance the quality of the images clicked with the selfie camera. According to the company, the AI Beauty recognition technology can ‘classify, recognise and beautify’ the portrait photographs in three aspects: skin colour and texture, gender and age.
On the connectivity front, the device support 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 ac, Bluetooth 4.2, USB-Type C, GPS, GLONASS and dual-SIM support.
On the software front, the A79 runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat with company’s own ColorOS 3.2 on top. It has a dimension of 150.5 x 73.1 x 7.7 mm and weighs around 143 grams.
The smartphone will go on sale starting from January 20 in India and it will be available from both Amazon and Flipkart as well as offline retail channels.
With the above specification, the smartphone will get a tough competition from the rivals such as Xiaomi Mi A1, Honor 7X and Samsung Galaxy On Max.
