OPPO K1 with in-display fingerprint sensor and an octa-core chipset launched in China

Chinese smartphone maker OPPO has just announced the company’s latest mid-range smartphone segment in China. Dubbed as OPPO K1, the smartphone has been launched in two variants with prices starting from RMB 1,599.

The key highlights of this mid-range smartphone is its in-display fingerprint sensor and a waterdrop design. Besides, the OPPO K1 also packs impressive hardware specifications. It comes in an attractive gradient color texture and Van Gogh Blue, and Mocha Red color options.

In terms of specifications, the OPPO K1 sports a 6.4-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with Waterdrop notch display with a screen-to-body ratio up to 91% for a more immersive experience.

The smartphone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 octa-core chipset and Adreno 512 GPU. It runs ColorOS 5.2 based on Android 8.1 (Oreo) out of the box.

OPPO has launched the K1 in China in two memory configurations – 4GB RAM + 64GB storage and 6GB RAM + 64GB storage. Luckily, the smartphone’s storage can be expanded up to 256GB using a microSD card.

In the camera department, there is 16MP + 2MP dual-camera setup with LED flash, placed at the rear side. For selfies and video calling, the smartphone has placed 25MP front-facing camera within the waterdrop notch. It comes with AI Portrait and AI beautification features as well.

Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac dual-band, Bluetooth 5.0 Low Energy, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, and Dual 4G VoLTE. It packs a 3600mAh capacity battery, but unfortunately, it does not come with fast charging support.

The base variant with 64GB storage and 4GB RAM is priced at RMB 1,599 (Rs 17,000 approximately), while the top variant with 6GB RAM is priced at RMB 1,799 (Rs 19,200 approximately). The smartphones will be going on sale from October 20, 2018.
