Alcatel U5 HD 4G Android smartphone launched in India for Rs 5,999

Global smartphone maker Alcatel has launched a new smartphone called the Alcatel U5 HD especially in India. The device has been priced at INR 5,999 and will be available beginning October 5 exclusively via Flipkart.com.

The entry-level Smartphone was actually launched globally in August this year(except India), and comes with decent specifications in this price category. But, interestingly the company has bumped up some of the specifications on the U5 HD smartphone making it different from its standard global variant.

The Alcatel U5 HD comes with a 5-inch HD (720×1280 pixels) display, a quad-core MediaTek MT6737 processor paired with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage, compared with the 1GB RAM and 8GB of internal storage on the global variant. The internal storage capacity can be expanded further using a microSD card (up to 128GB).

The Alcatel U5 HD also sports a 13-megapixel primary rear camera with autofocus and LED flash. The smartphone sports an 8-megapixel front camera with LED flash support as well. Camera features include HDR, EIS, Instant Collage, Face Mask, Face Show, Selfie Album, and Face Beauty.

In addition, the company has included 4G LTE supports, 2200 mAh battery that is rated to offer 4 hours of talk time and 200 hours of standby time. Other connectivity options include Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth.

The phone sports a matte and glossy dual finish with textured back cover in two colour options: Black and White.

“At Alcatel it has always been our endeavor to provide the premium experience at an affordable price. With the new Alcatel U5 HD, first-time smartphone buyers can now enjoy a crisp and clear viewing experience on a 5-inch HD display and some really fun camera features. This smartphone is designed to give our valued customers the power to get the most out of every moment – all with an appealing price tag,” said Praveen Valecha, Regional Director, Alcatel India.
