WhatsApp rolls out pinned chat feature, Now available for Android users

WhatsApp has been garnering popularity among smartphone users for a time now. It has become a preferred communication medium for over 200 million monthly active users in India alone. A countless number of messages are being exchanged every day between families and friends on the app which has already amassed around 5 billion installs on the play store alone. However, there are people who are frequently contacted by us (almost everyday) through the app and we as users find it a bit time consuming to list them on the top of the contact list repeatedly. To do away with this problem, WhatsApp has rolled out a brand new feature called Pinned Chat which allows a user to do the same i.e. “pin their chats.”

The feature was actually introduced earlier this month for beta users and developers, but now it can be used by everyone by simply downloading the updated version of the app from the Play Store. Unfortunately, a user, as of now, can only pin up to three contacts on top of rest of the conversations.

While introducing the feature, here’s what WhatsApp’s official statement said, “With pinned chats, you never have to worry about scrolling through the long list of conversations to text your family members or your best friend. Users can now pin up to three of the most important group or individual chats to the top of their chat list for easy access — simply tap and hold a chat, and then tap the pin icon at the top of your screen.”

Apart from the pin option, users can also check other options such as Delete, Mute, and Archive as well, which has been added to the Whatsapp and it appears on long-pressing a chat.
