U.S tech giant Microsoft has unveiled the latest version of its Surface Pro franchise which is capable of providing cellular wireless capability to the convertible laptop cum tablet at staggering speeds of up to 450Mbps. The new version of the Surface Pro LTE hybrid will also be packed with always-on internet that can sustain super-fast downloads.
The Surface Pro LTE is boosted by an Intel Core i5 CPU that is available in two versions based on RAM and storage space. The variant with 4GB RAM and 128GB SSD will cost $1,149 whereas the variant with 8GB worth of memory and 256GB SSD will cost $1,449.
Moreover, the Surface Pro LTE employs a Cat 9 Modem with support for over 20 cellular bands and soon plans to work with 4G networks on a global scale.
And, speaking of LTE, the new flagship Microsoft device sports a 7-antenna Qualcomm X16 Gigabit class LTE modem that has been built directly onto the motherboard for more quick responsiveness whilst the device is recovering from hibernation and sleep modes.
The Surface Pro LTE has been specially built focusing on the segment of enterprises and small scale businesses. It is all set to launch on December 1 exclusively for business customers.
Incidentally, Microsoft has, of late, seen a rise in the sales of Surface tablets cum laptops in the recent September quarter; a clear 12% rise in sales which the Washington-based tech giant attributes to the launch of the Surface device. Microsoft released its first Surface device back in 2012.
